THE TRUTH ABOUT FOOD

“There is no such thing as junkfood. There is junk, and there is food”

“Food is a basic necessity of life. A part of direct contact with life itself. How we see ourselves, treat ourselves and which patterns we face as human beings are all starting with our eating habits. It’s a ritual to prepare and share food during our most important events and celebations, a wedding, the birthday of your best friend, an anniversary and do not forget Christmas. Food connects and grounds us in the moment and transcends all boundaries of culture and religion…..in other words: Food is Life!

We live in a turbulent time. There has never been such a wide range of what I call: Empty food. The food you can find in the shelves in the supermarket. The proteins in our regular breads are often coming from insects. And chocolate is no longer made of cacao and honey is often artificial and doesn’t come from bees anymore. I often wondering where this is heading. Food is produced in a way to provide the cheapest solution.

But there is hope! Because we live in a time where green, organic, sustainable products, superfoods, raw foods and healthy juices are taking over. More and more people want to live a healthy live. The contrast is impressive. And it gives me joy to see that consumers are more aware of the things they eat and how it is produced. Every day it’s a new challenge to make a choice what kind of food you are going to buy in the supermarket and what kind of food we would like to see in the future. It is up to us.

There is also an upcoming hype of intolerances and allergies. I don’t say that those are all fairytales. But what strikes me is that pure food is often a good solution for those intolerances and allergies. This does not mean that someone with a serious peanut allergy suddenly can eat peanuts, but I have a good example. At the moment many people are suffering from a gluten intolerance. Or they are starting to realize that they actually always have had this, so they avoid eating bread. But I have seen in practice that not the bread nor the gluten are the problem. It’s the way bread is being made these days. Which in many cases cannot be compared with real bread.

The process of making the bread, a process of fermentation and giving time and love baking the bread is so important. Our mission is to invite people to experience food in a whole different and new way, which is actually centuries old. At Yoga Fest Café we do our very best to ensure pure food. Not only because of the moral principles, but also because it really brings out the best and most delicious result. We work with local, organic, fresh products that are being delivered daily and we try to present this as authentic as possible. Incredibly tasty and ‘guilt-free’ for mind, body and the earth.
“Because in the past … everything was organic and authentic.”

Hope to see you soon at the Yogafest cafe.
